The Elite:She-Ra and the Princesses of Power

Scouring the deaths of Netflix, I was searching for something intriguing that could catch the eye instantly, something new yet evoking a memory of the past. I was so proud to see and remember a series I had watched a while ago, and then rewatched, which was incredibly famous and made for an awesome story. For all the adults here, this series may come as a nostalgic surprise, but for the kids, it will be a thrill that lasts forever. DreamWorks' She-Ra and the Princesses of Power was a series created by Noelle Stevenson, starring Aimee Carrero, about a girl who was robbed of her life to fulfill the destiny her ancestors had imposed upon her. She becomes the legendary warrior She-Ra, but soon learns what legacy it brought, and what it meant.

She was said to be “born” and raised in the Fright Zone, enemy territory for the rebellion in the world of Etheria. One day, she escapes to have fun, to see what was beyond those walls, to find the whispering woods. Many mysteries lay in them, but in it was hidden a sword that contained much power, destined for her to wield. Her revelation with this sword opens her to the atrocities of the Horde- and the horrible war that was going on. She-Ra changed the tide of the war, becoming the most valuable asset to the rebellion. But this came with a cost: a past friend and a future love.

After being betrayed again and again by princesses, leaders, and friends alike, she is ultimately faced with a force that desires to conquer the universe and wants Etheria above all else. Etheria was not just a world, but a weapon that could destroy the entire cosmos. She-Ra was the key, so she had to stop it. So many sacrifices, so many losses, the question always lingered: how could one woman stand against a universal empire? How could she beat the one who had beaten countless others? The fact is that she didn’t count on the one thing that Etheria had that no others had. The one thing that Etheria’s first settlers sought because of its power; magic was the key. The most powerful weapon of all, and she was its sole herald.

She-Ra was destined to lead Etheria, to be its Hero and champion. She was no “First ones” pet, nor some key to a weapon. She-Ra was more than a symbol; she was power incarnate. So many people telling her what she was, what she had to do, what her destiny was, when all she had to do was trust in herself-trust in her friends. She is destined to liberate Etheria, to uphold magic, to lead the universe into an era of peace. Aurora knew this, but forgot that she was also more than just She-Ra. Her long-time enemy-love was the only one

who could remind her that her future was more than just being She-Ra, Etheria’s leader, but that she was also deserving of a future with love.

Others wanted to make her a tool for their plans, and she fought against them. But in the way, she forgot to stop making herself a tool for the world. We can sometimes forget that line, so let their love be an example to us, showing us that we are more than just what we’re born to do.
