The Russo-Ukrainian War

This Russian invasion in Ukraine is something that can tear this world apart, even worse, create another World War, and it frightens me a little bit. Analysts from around the world are saying that President Vladimir Putin is trying to bring back the Soviet Union. The tension between Ukraine and Russia has been building up for years, especially since Russia attacked the nation in 2014 and subsequently annexed Crimea. Countries that were in the Soviet Union still have Russians spreading propaganda to persuade people to believe in the resurrection of the Soviet Union.

According to Russian propaganda, Ukraine’s intent to join NATO or the North Atlantic Treaty Organization represents a threat to their nation’s security as the move might represent the additional West deployment of weapons in the area. While the United States and its European allies have not interfered in the war, they have sent fighter jets and guns to help Ukraine’s efforts. If other nations interfere in the Russia-Ukraine War, the Russian president asserted that he would unleash “consequences you have never seen.

Russia has already blown-up places in Ukraine, causing devastating damage, injuring, and killing many innocent lives. As a result, families are being torn apart because Ukraine banned men ages 18 to 60 to leave the country so they can serve in the military to fight against Russia. It's scary to think if they will make it back to their families. “If they [Russia] attack, if they try to take our country, our freedom, our lives, the lives of our children- we will be defending ourselves,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy, president of Ukraine. This gives me hope because it means that Ukraine is fighting back against Russia.

For me, this can start World War III, and like Albert Einstein said, “I know not with what weapons WWIII will be fought but WWIV will be fought with sticks and stones.” What scares me is that around the world there are places that are storing weapons that can make that quote happen. I just hope Ukraine can win because if the Soviet Union is resurrected, the world might be in trouble. And as Maya Angelou said, “Hope for the best, and pray for the worst”. From the moment that I’m writing this, I don’t know what the damages of the war will be.

Keep Ukraine in your prayers.
