Doctor Who has been a classic since 1963 by Sydney Newman, but I gotta say that this new spinoff by Russell T. Davis has shocked the entire community. The Doctor played by Ncuti Gatwa, is an astonishingly incredible actor for this role. His capability to incorporate mystery in a fun way makes this a real Doctor Who adventure(s). He plays this role alongside Millie Gibson, who has an ability to portray happiness even though everything is collapsing around. She makes the audience feel as if they themselves are part of the character and can relate to her. They both represent a union for goodness, for the best of all time. With the objective to fight evil, the Doctor gives us new adventures, new fights, new desires, new people to protect. He gives those that need help a new purpose, a new start for a better life.
The beginning of this show starts with a troubled woman, who defied time. She is stolen by time goblins who chase her through time. The Doctor’s encounter with her is no mistake. Villains and the past destroyers of the time lords are chasing him. Having found her, and irregularity, she travels with him. Trying to figure out a time mystery that is not supposed to be.
Her presence defied time itself. She is a woman who made no sense at all in time. Her mother had no face, no figure, no record in time. Finding her was her purpose, the Doctor’s doom. The main villain, the destroyer of the universe is searching for the only thing he needs to destroy, the Tardis. Something happens in the end that makes this happen. Some say it is all Ruby’s fault, but the problem had to do with more than her. She was only the beginning.
Have an open mind. This series is complex, but it all connects in a way. The purpose of time, of love, of sacrifice, is presented in this series. What makes this a good series is not its incredible way of connecting “the dots” but its representation of what is true to us, what is real, and what exactly are we born for. Things happen to us for a reason, to understand something we didn’t know before. This series opens that spectrum and that’s why you should watch it now on Disney +.
